How to Install Amazon Corretto 15

Amazon Corretto 15 Installation Instructions for macOS

This tutorial describes how to install and uninstall Amazon Corretto 15 on a host running the Mac OS version 10.13 or later. You must have administrator permissions to install and uninstall Amazon Corretto 15.

I am installing this on my MacBook Pro macOS Catalina Version 10.15.5, Processor 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, Memory 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 machine.

Install Amazon Corretto 15

Download the mac .pkg file from this location

After downloading please check the md5 checksum to make sure that the file you downloaded is not corrupted and you are getting exactly what you are expecting. If you do not know how to validate the file using md5 checksum, I have explained it here

Double-click the downloaded file to begin the installation wizard and follow the steps in the wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Amazon Corretto 15 is installed in /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/ You can run the following command in a terminal to get the complete installation path.

/usr/libexec/java_home --verbose

Run the following command in the terminal to set the JAVA_HOME variable to the Amazon Corretto 15 version of the JDK. If this was set to another version previously, it is overridden

export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/amazon-corretto-15.jdk/Contents/Home

Uninstall Amazon Corretto 15

You can uninstall Amazon Corretto 15 by running the following commands in a terminal.

cd /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/
sudo rm -rf amazon-corretto-15.jdk
